I have windows 2000 on my c drive, with a functioning sony dru 830a drive, as my d drive. I recently installed windows xp on my e drive due to size constraints on c drive. I cannot get windows xp to recognize my sony dru 830a at all. It calls it some kind of mass storage device. I have tried to find a driver for it, including contacting sony. I am at a loss on how to proceed. Also, microsoft suggested I delete the device and reboot, which i did, but same thing happens. I would really appreciate a suggestion.
thanx.

I uninstalled the primary and secondary ide channels, then rebooted,
and I have the same problem....
Did you mean uninstal any devices using the ide channels?

I have tried the registry fix, where you get rid of the upper and lower limits, removing the entry, and removing the pci primary and secondary,
and letting windows xp redo them. None of this has worked.
The drive and cabling are fine. They work on my C: drive, running under
windows 2000. But, as I have been told, there is no driver, and none of these fixes work, I am at an impass. My next step is to reinstall xp, then
take the computer to a service place. Neither prospect is appealing, but
if no one seems to have a solution, I have no other option. If anyone has had this probem with a sony dru 830a, and xp, please let me know. thanks
