well i gotta say if you can help me to find a result for my problem then god your GOOD! im running xp pro on an asus laptop which is fitted with a mitshita uj-842s dvd rw.....the problem in that ive used all of my region resets as i travel alot. mydrive is now set to region2 but i now reside in a region 4 part of the world, so i downloaded css region free 90 day trial and all was good for a while with regards to playin r4 dvd's, but since then ive had seperate probs with xp so i reinstalled windows recentley and now the systems genrally runnig really well...well except for the smooth playng of r4 dvd's so again i downloaded css region free but this time only some r4 dvd's will play properley!some play but very badley making any player i use unresponsive???i also use dvd fab platinum or magic dvd ripper to back up copy  my dvd's but again this program will only copy what my drive will allow me to play???i dont know what to do now ive tried everything i can??i think??....ive looked to download the firmware for my drive but as of yet i dont think there is one available does anyone no different?? so to sum it up some region4 dvd's will play/copy fine and some wont....thanks to any one who takes the time to help me on this one....cheers!!

i was worried that this would be the case....i live in hope that some firmware will be made available eventually???would you say that this is likely??

no, would say there will never be an rpc1 release

when i open region free +css and click on "dvd info" it advises of number ofvendor resets available, would you say this means that i can get the counter reset to r4 by the manurfacturer??if nothing else will work do you recon just buying an external drive would be the anwser??thanks again

yes it means the manufacturer could reset it, but the likelihood of them doing that would be slim, plus the cost, two ways to change, either change the internal drive or buy a usb drive
