it works as it should, MCSE doesn't support patches for RPC1,Bitsetting or read speed for this, what are you wanting to do?

Hi There,

I tried using MCSE 1.1.0.16 (of May/2008) on this one for LG GCC-4244N (an IBM ThinkPad-specific CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive), but it don't even seem to recognize the file (nor the packed archive & neither the unpacked .DLD firmware-image).

Is there any way to make MCSE patch this one ?

Thanks ahead :)

Daniel K.

This is the wrong thread for MCSE questions, please use the MCSE thread next time.
In general MCSE supports only DVD writer, the LG GCC-4244N is no exception to this rule.

Hi,

I just got the LG GH22NP20, I was unable to find GSA-H55N (20x) anymore here, so I got GH22N (22x) instead.

I was trying to find a firmware for it, but it seems LG didn't released a thing yet, or I'm missing something?

Will MCSE support this (GH22N) [*profanity*] drive?

Thanks,
Gradius

I have just downloaded the 9P58 firmware version for the DH-20A3S liteon drive and unfortunately MCSE will not load the firmware. It just sits there within the program and as though nothing was loaded. Now i understand that MCSE may not yet support 9P58, however, i get the exact same outcome with the 9P56 firmware version and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

You have to use an unscrambled firmware flasher or dumped .bin file.

I have a pioneer DVR215.

I am having trouble loading the 1.18 firmware in MCSE. I downloaded from Japan site.

I can extract the .exe file and load S0014001.118 file and then save the file as S0014001_speedpatched but how do I flash the firmware?

I am trying to set the drive to bitsetting.

rename it to the original, if your flashing rpc1, patch the flasher also

I renamed the patched file to the original name. I am still getting the error message FW is already latest.

Do I need to use DVRFlash to update the firmware?

I do need a quick tutorial on using DVRFlash.

have you loaded the flasher into MCSE, and ticked allow same to same flash?

When I run the official firmware file I have three files as follow:

R215, which is the exe file
S0014000.118
S0014001.118

When I load the R215 file in MCSE, nothing happens, it says ODD Firware Update Utility.

Then I load the S0014001.118 file, It loads up correctly.

Then I ticked druve setting and enable bitsettting.

Save the file as S0014001_speedpatched.

Deleted the original S0014001.118 file.

Renamed the S0014001_speedpatched to S0014001.118.

Ran R215, same error FW is already latest.

Then I tried DVRFlash. Copied the file to C:\DVR215 directory.

Then I ran cmd changed the directory to C:DVR215

Typed in DVRFlash -vf h: S0014000.118 S0014001.118

It worked!

How do I test it now whether it can do bitsetting now?

its done automatically, burn a disc, then check it in dvdinfo or nero, out of interest what version of MCSE have you got? just tested and the allow same to same flashing option works fine with the 215, its right at the bottom

I am using the 1.1.0.17 version.

I ticked the bitsetting option when I patched the file. What is the RPC1 patch file for?

Can I run the patched firmware file, patch it for region free then flash it again?

Or do I patch the original firmware file from Pioneer, the patch it for increased speeds, bitsetting and region free?

Uh, I forgot to thank you Puma, how rude of me! You have been very helpful and walking me through flashing steps.

yes, just add the RPC1 patch, to the one you have, and then reflash to the drive

I patched the file, then flashed the patched firmware.

When I tried the different region discs, it asked me whether I wanted to the change the region from 4 to 1 or 4 to 1.

Region settings remaining now are about 3 times.

What am I doing wrong?
