Problem with Burner

Hi Guys

I have the LG. HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA 4164B, and I'm wondering if a firmware update will solve the problem i have :?:

When I burn a movie etc.. they always seem to have area that "freezes,
I've tried burning at the slowest speed possible, but know joy

The movie image on the hard disc plays OK, so it sounds like it's the burner, do you agree :?:

and will a firmware update fix it.

media problem i would suspect, what media are you using?

Thanks for reply.

I've tried various Ritek etc..

Burning with
DVD shrink / nero.
I've also tried burning the the movie image ( which does not freeze and is perfect) from the hard drive using Clone DVD.

Things were fine till a few months ago, no probs, I can't figure it out

So a firmware update is a no no then :?:

check to ensure your drive is in DMA mode in device manager, also ritek media is not the most reliable, . To advise on firmware, please post what you have now, the only thing the firmware can do is better match media

DMA is on
didn't show up in device manager

but nero toolkit said it was.
what media do you recommend :?:
