Question for the studio audience...

I have both a Pioneer DVR-111D and a LiteOn 1693S. The other day I discovered that by updating the LiteOn firmware to K0SB I could burn Ritek Ridata RITEK-D01-01 (not the RICOHJPN-D00-01 2.4x only versions) DVD+R DLs at both 2.4 and 4x without a problem. (as noted on LiteOn site and with several personal test burns.)

To the best of current knowledge, and as ImgBurn 1.21.0.0 still reports 2.4x only under TDB v1.06 for the 111D, could Media Code Speed Edit 1.0.8.5 be used to tweak an equvilant 4x burn with the Ridata D01-01 +R DLs or is it still basically a firmware limitation at this point?

I appreciate your insights...

yes you can alter the strategy to one which enables 4x burning

This problem is fixed now.
Edit: Sorry, forgot to credit PumaUK in the changelog for reporting the bug. You will get another chance ... :)

Ala does the increase read speed work with the DVR-111?
I noticed the box was active when I loaded the TDB firmware.

Thanks Puma. I'll snag MCSE 1.0.8.6 and give it a shot. If and when I'm successful, I'll report back with the news (likely in a few days...)

I doubt that. Please perform a quality scan and post the output here.

Ri* DL disc is not worth even buying...

I noticed the box was active when I loaded the TDB firmware.

The box is active because the code sequence to be patched was found. Changing this sequence changes to drives behaviour on Buffallo firmwares only.

Please readup on MCSE, you can not just set speeds on media, you need to change the write strategy of the media you have with another in the firmware

that is what I did. doesn
