Your drive is SONY OEM.
Yes, it should be. It came with Sony Laptop. Device manager says it is DVR-K14.
I tried to flash with Medion's latest firmware.
Said;
New features:
o APPLE, ACER and SONY (OEM) support added
DVRFlash.exe v2.2 doesn't work with Sony OEM DVR-K14?

dvrflash f: S4126062.110 S4126162.110
I think the firm version doesn't matter. DVRFlash found the DRV-K14 drive, but it seems not support it...
The message is;
The PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K14 is not supported by this utility - Aborting
Thank you for your help.

The firmware and kernel does matter, you cannot crossflash an OEM to reatil or another OEM without the correct kernel and firmware.
Also, your commandline cannot work.
Code: dvrflash f: S4126062.110 S4126162.110 Is F: the correct driveletter? If yes, then try: Code: dvrflash -vf F: S4126062.110 S4126162.110

Can a DVR-100 be flashed to a DVR-110 firmware?
From some forum searches I understand the 100 is actually the Retail version of the OEM 110 unit. So I would think it would be able to, however I searched and found no posts from people indicating they tried it.
Also at the top of this thread, it does not mention this Flash utility supporting the DVR-100
So I just want to make sure from the experts, Thanks.
BTW - BestBuy has the DVR-100 on sale for $59, not a bad deal at all!
UPDATE: newegg has the DVR-110 for $39, maybe I should get that one instead. Opinions, is the 110 a better build.

Hello,
DVRFlash v2.2 refuses to flash the DVR-K15 drive with beta RPC1 firmware from tdb.rpc1.org. The RPC1 firmware seems to be of GENERAL kernel type and the drive has HP kernel:
Code: Drive Information: Description : PIONEER DVDRW DVR-K15 Firmware Rev : 1.11 Firmware Date : 05/04/18 Manufacturer : PIONEER Drive is in normal mode.
Additional Drive Information: Serial Number : *********** Interface type : ATA DVR generation : 0064 Kernel type : HP Normal type : HP Kernel version : 0004
Status : RPC-2 (region locked) Region : 1 Changes : 4 region changes remaining 4 vendor resets remaining state is 'Region set'
Is there anything to solve such a problem?

Does DVRflash 2.2 work with the Pioneer 111/111D/111C (and whatever I have missed)
Will their be another version of DVRflash to include the 1.11?

In addition to that I would like to ask real experts...
1. What would happen if I edit beta RPC1 firmware with binary editor and change words "GENERAL" to "HP" in the firmware file headers? Will the DVRFlash upload these files to the drive?
2. If yes, will it damage the HP OEM drive?
3. Will the OEM HP Windows XP recognize the drive after that?

The last line shows the problem: DVRFlash doesn't know the drive type variant "HP" (yet). So there's not much for you to do right now.
Looks like this is something for LasVegas.

There is nothing new besides the information given earlier:
Code: Drive Information: Description : PIONEER DVDRW DVR-K15 Firmware Rev : 1.11 Firmware Date : 05/04/18 Manufacturer : PIONEER Drive is in normal mode.
Additional Drive Information: Serial Number : ******** Interface type : ATA DVR generation : 0064 Kernel type : HP Normal type : HP Kernel version : 0004
Status : RPC-2 (region locked) Region : 1 Changes : 4 region changes remaining 4 vendor resets remaining state is 'Region set'
If you need more info, please, let me know.

The current version of DVRFlash doesn't see the 111D I just installed. It does see the 110D I have in my upper drive bay (MacOSX system). I was hoping that since DVRFlash can update official single file firmware (which is the only variety released by Pioneer for this device) that I could at least get to the current 1.06, even through I would like to crossflash to the 111 Ram writing version. PC users have reported that the crossflashing works.
Runing drutil in the Terminal shows the drive and I can gete all sorts of infor about it; but as far as DVRFlash is concerned I only have one optical device. Is this a limitation of the current version, of my ignorance or of my installation?
Also could some future version of DVFlash crossflash single file firmwares?

Thanks Coaster. I was aware of this information. My problem is that I use a Macintosh and don't have access to a PC, so I depend on DVRFlash.
I was able to get DVRFlash to see the drive by using B:PIONEER; but get the message "DVRFlash does not support the DVR-111D." So I guess I'll have to live with the 1.02 firmware for a while.

Vegas, great tool. I would like to know the list of dvd-r brands that will burn at 16x with a pioneer a106 and dvrflash 2.2. I checked some of the brands mentioned in the pioneer site but i dont know if some of the taiwan brands like ridata would jump from 12x to 16x with dvrflash 2.1 or 2.2.
Thanks

DVRFlash is a flash program, which just updates the firmware of pioneer drives. It does not change the behaviour of a firmware or a drive.
Your Pioneer 106 drive is a 4x burner. There is no firmware that is able to reach higher burn speeds on this drive.
So the list of dvd-r brands that will burn at 16x with a pioneer a106 and dvrflash 2.2 is empty.

Youre right ala42, I typed it wrong, I have a 108 burner. Thats it suppose to burn at 16x certain brands, the firmware Pioneer provides lets you burn at this speed new brands with each new release, so now that I corrected my mistake, i ask again, what brands I can burn at 16x with Pioneer 108 and DVRFlash 2.2
Thanks

Someone must have the Supported mediaa pdf for the last firmware for the 108. Post a request at the top of the forum rather than buried in this topic. More people will see it then.

I can't recall Pioneer releasing a compatible media list for the 108, but I could be wrong
I know they did for the 109/110/111.
