I notice that Verbatim isn't on the list, not in any category. Surely it must be supported, since with the 109 it was the go to band for 16x.

Verbatim uses MCC code.

I can confirm for you that Verbatim/Mitsubishi's MCC004 MID will write at 16x CLV (NOT ZONED!) within the DVR-110D using 1.08 firmware. Amazingly impressive, at that!

DVD-RAM write at 16x?! I heard that the NEC chipset used is capable of 16X but the drive would only do 5X. Can it actually do 16X with certain media? I have a feeling the firmware is going to limit this back down to 5x but if 16x can be unlocked hopefully by modded firmwares being available for this drive that would be well wicked.

cannot see you been able to write 16x to dvd-ram, well not yet anyway, and even with modified firmware, trying 16x is pushing it

PumaUK What issues are you experiencing with the CMC as according to the media list it should burn both + and -R CMC at 12X as per the table above 
I use the CMC on my 108 at 12X and they seem to be good media (no coasters).
I am considering buying one at the markets here on the weekend for $65.00AUS  Soon they will be giving burners away with 50 disk spindles

For what it's worth, yup. We are currently experiencing the same problems with the 110/110D. It would appear that ALL fabrications of CMCMAGAE.1 are indeed problematic under the 1.08 firmware.
Ahh well. Pioneer have been well notified of this. Next firmware, all should be well.

So what is happening when burning to CMC? Is it burning at all? any errors? or does it just burn at 8x

In my experience with CMCMAGAE.1 the writer suffers PCE's or power calibration errors whilst trying to calibrate/start the lead in.
Still others, whilst trying to write to CMCMAGM0.1 and CMCMAGAM.3 have experienced (despite the fact that it is 16x certified media) that the drive is only allowing 8x writing.
It is my suspicion that the drive is using a "Default strategy" to accomplish this, hence disallowing 16x descriptors.
It will be fixed within another firmware iteration. Not something, that I am personally all that concerned by.

Thanks for the quick responce will try it out when I get the drive
Pioneer usually bring out a new firmware pretty quick after the introduction of a new model.
Hopefully it will be fixed soon

None for me, i haven't the drive yet, waiting for an xl version, i posted the info as i know people have had problems with the disc

What is the difference between the silver 110 and the normal.
Is this the same as the XL model 109 equivalent with quiet drive?
