Does this mean that a RPC1 and riplock removed firmware is in the wind when 1.18 is released?

oh man, a modded firmware for the 110 would be truly awesome. Since the 109 has nothing in terms of modded firmware I suspect the 110 will be the same though we will see. If a third party manufacturer comes out with a bitsetting firmware for the 110 and this was modded with region free and unlimited rip speed I would be one happy camper. I would sell my 109 and get the 110 just for this reason.

Any new BTW on when the full 110 is to be released? It has been a good few weeks now that have gone by since the 110D came out.

Finally, you would become a lucky one. We hope it will become reality.

As for the 110 with DVD-RAM support, it should be out within the next 2 weeks, even earlier. Date for it is set to the 15th September in my favourite shop and the price is similar to the 110D silver, around

yea silver would rock as my case is silver. I would settle for black however as that is what my 108 and 109 were and still looks good in the silver case IMO. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for the full 110. Hopefully the original 110D could be flashed to enable DVD-RAM writing support that means anyone can buy any drive and win.

Lol.

Not so fast, stupid Pioneer changed the algorithm encode since DVR-109/A09, and I bet is different on DVR-110 too. Perhaps is time to open the code for anyone interested in rap*, ops, unlock this drive. :P

And yes, I just got my 110 now. Firmware version is v1.08. UPGR110D.exe from v1.03 contains a backdoor, or its just an open door (hey ty Pioneer!) for all us.

I just want RPC-1 and unlocking speed (as usual).

More coming... when possible.

Well, I got away from DVR's for months, so I didn't checked if the chips are differents, or not, I believe so. If you have time, or have this infos already, let me know.

The main CPU on 110 is the same as on 109/A09 (I don't believe, but who knows?).

Nice news Gradius!

For all interested - I'll have the DVR-110 (pure, non-D revision) around wednesday next week. I'll be pulling them apart, comparing the drives side by side for PCB/OPU differences - as a means to ascertain whether or not I will be able to cross flash.

:). Could be an interesting week.

***I probably should mention - for Asia and Australasia, the 110 units (non-D) are sitting in the warehouse waiting to be released.

I just read a review about 110D, well Pioneer finally removed the riplock speed. Yes, now is unlocked by default.

Just I'm looking now is RPC-1. :P

I bought a DVR-109 just before the 110 came out. It went west last week with a loud grinding noise whilst trying to read any disk. Being under warranty and less than a month old I sent it back to Pioneer here in Oz to have it fixed. Got the box back today and they replaced it with a DVR-110D. Sweet :D

It came with 1.08 but I just finished flashing it to 1.11 for the hell of it. Thanks Pioneer...

Yup! Just one of the reasons Pioneer are so popular here, down-under. They actually look after their end users! :)

My drive JUST started doing this last week or so. I have had it about 6 months now with many, many burns so I think it is just on its way out the door. I am anxiously awaiting for the full 110 to be released so I can jump to that. I am hoping for a firmware mod on this drive in the near future.

BTW... if the cpu is the same as 109 as mentioned above perhaps that is why the CAV bug may still be present... it is obviously an issue with the hardware.

Hard to tell, really. Software controlling the hardware? Maybe.

A physical "hard wired" problem in the way the drive's central logic unit is behaving is unlikely.

I'll wager (without looking too deeply into this) that such a problem could probably be rectified via firmware. It is a question of what registers/calls control such a specific problem/set of variables that would take a real effort to isolate, I fear.

CMC -R 8x burnt at 12x :D

Just finished burning all the way through with no errors, unlike 1.08 which gave you a coaster on leadin.

looking good!

I don't use CMC media but am glad it is working for you guys. IF someone can test the 16x media with CAV and let us know if they close out properly all the time that would be great.

So far I have burnt 6 different 16x discs at 6-16x CAV with complete success with firmware 1.11 and see no reason for 1.17 to be any different other than improvements
This is a typical ISO image burn graph obtained
