I just bought a DVR-108 yesterday in France, in Paris.

For now this burner is not supported by "DVRFlash", would a new version of "DVRFlash" be provided soon ? :-)

It will when DVRFlash 2.0 is released (we already have a pre-release version of 2.0 for Windows if you're interested). It's been tested and works fine.
But DVRFlash 2.0 will only be fully released when it is recompiled on Mac. I can't tell you when that will happen, because we're basically waiting on our Mac developer to come back.

Thanks for theses tests.

I cannot publish theses Nero test, because i'm a Mac user, and Nero don't work on Mac.

Yesterday I just tryed to burn with my new DVR-108, original 1.04 firmware, a Ritek G05 at 12X using Toast 6.07. I've not been impressed by the burning speed... :(

I'm sure the DVD as not been burned at 12X. The burning time has been longer than a 8x with the old DVR-107, around 2 ou 3 minutes much more time.

But the DVD has been burned without any error neither during the burning process, nor during the verification process. And it worked fine on my home Philips home DVD reader.

Now i'm waiting the "DVRFlash 2.0", new release to be able do some other tests with the firmware 1.06.

;)

FFS give us a break we have not yet unpacked the box
It will arrive in due course without reminding
Extra pressure only adds delays to the project

I gave you what I saw in the speed tables.
After that, Pioneer do pretty much what they want to tweak (read "limit") the speed of specific media.

Oh, and just in case you wonder, I'm getting pretty good results burning Arita/RitekG04 4x DVD-R media at 16x with an early beta of the 16x4all 108 firmware.

ZCLV is a pain in the ass though (I wish Pioneer followed NEC's example and went CAV all the way) and you have to know that the DVR-108 is really a 12x burner that only got stamped 16x because Pioneer marketing insisted on it. In all, the drive must burn less than 300 MB of data at 16x

Image
(NB: The missing plateau at 16x is a Nero CDVD Speed issue. There should be a 16x plateau at the end. Also the graph above does not apply to an actual data disc creation as I preferred using my media to burn actual data. During these real-life tests, I reached 16x writing speed just like in the graph above)

The ZCLV of the 108 is pretty much split this way, with the usual pauses on each ZCLV transition:
o 0000 -> 0380 MB: 6x
o 0380 -> 2000 MB: 8x
o 2000 -> 4200 MB: 12x
o 4200 -> 4500 MB: 16x

Can't give you any ETA of the 16x4all firmware though. Probably > 1 week.

File->Options->Transfer Rate->Maximum speed DVD: 17 will show the 16x part.

by the time 16x -R media is out, won't pioneer release firmware which will allow you to burn 16x constantly?

GSC003              6x  8x
MBI 03RG3000        6x  8x

Quite some interesting MIDs we have here...
TTG02 and TTH01 looks like 8X and 16X certified DVD-R TDK discs, and will probably still be manufactured by CMC with these "special" TDK MIDs.
SONY08D1 --> I have to wonder if these discs will be garbage...
