Have some information, that SD-R5272 includes dual layer DVD+R writing code in it's firmware already. Does anyone tested? How can I download drive's firmware? I will send it to someone, who will look and understand it's content!

Let's try to force Toshiba relase update for this new drive to make it dual layer DVD+R compatible! It's up to us! Send them your requests about this at toshibaTech@teleplan.com

We will make it happen! :D This drive is nearly BEST!

I've only read that the new drive from Toshiba will support dual format, not dual layer.

I am talking that there is possible to have fimware update to support dual layer disk writing. Let's make Toshiba think, that we need this update badly! :D

In the worst case, we always can flash our Toshiba 5272 with next generation's Toshiba firmware with dual layer support. Drive is fresh, so I think, that if there will be no big differences in hardware and drive is dual layer ready already.

I think that we must wait for firmware update... But... I had no problems with Samsung DVD+RW media. Does Toshiba support it's hardware by new firmware? Personally, I've heard that Toshiba support is poor.

I've seen only ONE update for old drives. :(

This is fresh drive, let's give Toshiba a chance! Maybe they will support fresh hadware...

I've burned over a hundred DVDs using Ritek DVD+R Media. Works flawlessly on a number of different burners. Just buy it.
