Computer INSPIRON 8200 (DELL).

Friend flashed the Firmware to U007 now the computer will not boot when the ROM is installed. Gives an error cannot find bootable device.

Remove the device and it will boot normally. With XP Pro running, insert the device and then BSOD....

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

Found A toshiba DVD-ROM (works fine in a Gateway Laptop) that would fit the INSPIRON so I tried it. Same errors.

Has the disk controller been fried?????

Is there any thing I can try to recover it?

Wrong firmware, therefore that error.
