What is your current firmware version? Please use DISCInfo (discinfo.rpc1.org) > File > Save and paste the contents of the saved report into your post.

The only 330E drive that I know about is a rebadged CRX320ED (which in turn is a rebadged 5K LiteOn combo) used by Dell for their computers (for some reason, Dell wanted the 330E name instead of the 320ED name). But since this kind of stuff with OEM firmwares is never very certain, it's still best that you provide the DISCInfo report requested above.

It's a rebadged 320ED (4835K/5235K). You *should* be able to flash it with LK04, though I'm not 100% sure of that because nobody has tried it yet.

(Hmm. Browsing the web from a text-only terminal with Lynx... this is fun ;))

I don't know if it is since i ran the program you suggest to get that log, or from something else.
But now my drive WILL NOT WORK, whenver i insert a cd it says the disk is blank and the file system unknown.
I didn't apply any firmware
i am really worried, has anyone got advice please? I tried running the dell driver rest tool but that did not help.

DISCInfo cannot harm your drive, was the drive working ok before?, when you say your inserting a disc, you do mean with something on?

Disable the IMAPI-Burn Engine if you are using xp. Also disable Packet-Writing Software in case some is installed.

Firmware does work, but did not help my DVD read issues with Sony Branded DVD+R Ver 1.3/1x-16x. Still shows as no media.

DVD's contain authored DVD content. Look like standard DVD's with AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. VIDEO_TS has VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB, etc, etc.

Reads fine in other DVD readers such as:
LITE-ON SOHW-1673SU (usb)
TSSTcorp DCW/DVD TS-L462C
