please guys tell me how can I reflash my dvd drive LG HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4522B (it is CD writer/reader and DVD reader it doesn't write DVD).It became dead (window can still detect it,drive is not ejecting, light is not blinking ,it is making sound) while I was uprading it .I was upgradeing it with HLDS version 2.10.The name of the exe file was gcc4522b107.exe and source file was IDE.BIN.I ran the discinfo1.6.1 it showed the followinf information about the drive
DISCINFO VERSION : 1.6.1.6
VENDOR : HL-DT-ST
MODEL : RW/DVD GCC-4522B
REVISION : boot
INTERFACE : ATAPI

What firmware is mentioned on the top of the drive, at the label?

sorry sir I couldn't understand which label you are talking about.The firm ware I first used first was gcc4522b107.exe and later i also download firmware from your site wich is GCC4522B108.exe..I alo saw the
my computer >hardware>device manager>HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4522B>driver it was written there driver provider microsoft ,driver date
7/1/2001,driver version 5.1.2535.0.I checked firmware version is mentioned no where i think the firmware didn't upgrade properly so it didn't work.

its a combo drive, doesn't write to dvd

What was the original firmware?

Was the drive delivered in the PC or did you install it later?

What make/model machine is this drive in?

The drive needs proper reflashing.
I suggest you start up in SAFE MODE (F8) and then try flashing the drive with firmware, starting with 1.03.

It seems that The Dangerous Brothers is upset with me but I didn't mean that at all.that's why I started my sentence with a sorry.Can u please tell me how can I check the version number.If u can give some time please write it in steps.I didn't use any firmware at the beginning I just fixed the rom and it was running on defult driver provided by xp.The rom was not provided by manufacturer I fixed it later.My PC use win xp(sp2) os,352mb ram,amd athlon xp 2000+ 1.66GHZ processor.

Can combo drive be flushed did I do some mistake bu using firmware that I mentioned in my earlier post how can I make it earlier it was.

can you post discinfo output here, when they say look on top of the drive, it means you need to physically remove the drive from your tower and look at the label on top of the drive

I have two drive one is SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-240B which is ok I am posting the discinfo summary of both for the samsung rom the discinfo is giving firmware version as R403 but for the defectecd
HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4522B the firm ware version is shown as bootby disc info.
th discinfo for the defeced drive is

try as chef has suggested and boot into safemode and try and update the drive with one of the correct firmwares

it's not working

if the flasher cannot see the drive, then there isn't much you can do now

the flasher Can see the drive beacuse while the flasher was upgrading the light of the drive was blinking and the name and model no. was also present in the drop down box of the flasher.It is just freezed at boot how can I unfreeze it

Try flashing the drive in ANOTHER computer.

3. then scroll down a little to the correct drive and look to the right and your 1.03 firmware is there!
i have exactly the same problem as you!i updated a family members pc earlier today,the program said it had done it successfully,i rebooted when the pc started up it said new c drive found,shows in my computer byut doesnt eject,light doesnt come on nothing!i shall have a look at updating the drive tomorrow!hope this helps looks like this is becoming a bit of a problem.#
does anyone know where there is a stand alone flasher that is purely a flasher and doesnt have any firmware integrated into it?
