None of the firmware's on IBM site are compatible, and frankly look to be much older. This is most likely a GCC-4243N tweaked to report as a 4240N. Please email us and we'll try and figure a solution.

I also got a same drive with C102 on it.
Was there any solution? Or do I have to buy DVD Region+CSS Free?

Thanks.

hmmm...
I found there is one line which is different from the natedev's post.

>VENDOR SPECIFIC : ABICA 04/07/29

everything else was exact same.

Thanks.

the ibm firmware ver 214 is superior by a long shot for these drives ,i tested dell, gateway,hp and ibm ver214 actually doubled the read speeds on dual format dvd discs ,asides from other improvments across the board too.yep it is an ibm since 1921

Hi

Any solution available for HL-DT-ST GCC-4240N C102? I tried using both the 0214auto.exe and 0214rpc1.exe but it did not go through sucessfully. Any clues?

Regards
Terence
