Hi!

I'm a newbie at this.. I have a new Dell computor where my DVD burner isn't working.. It's a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B burner..

The specs on Dell's homepage say that my burner is made to burn all the formats. But it isn't burning anything other than CDs.

I ran Nero InfoTool, and this is the result. My computor thinks the burner isn't capable of burning DVDs. How should I fix this? Any drivers someone can link me too? Help.

YOU are the one who should read. It's a COMBO DRIVE. It's all in the first line of the spec:

Specifications: HLDS GCC-4481B CD-RW/DVD ROM Drive User's Guide

It WILL write to CDs
It WILL NOT write to DVDs.
It will READ CDs and DVDs.

It's a CD-RW drive combined with DVD-ROM drive capabilities.
Some manufacturers have created names like "super combo drive" which is a bit confusing. Combo drive simply means CD RW and DVD-ROM.

WHERE does it state which media it can write? It does not mention any write info!

In my humble opinion, this drive is a piece of junk and the mfg's description is purposly misleading.
It, as stated below in the Users Guide, will not burn anything other than CD's.
