Are you sure? I didn't see anything like "P01 error"!

Yes, using a win-version of mpatch and making a dump, I hope, will be no problem for me (I'll try it tonight), but will it help anything?;) As I understood, dumps are needed to send them to >NIL:, and according to his signature, in just some days he will not be available in firmware scene anymore

Of course I am not sure with anything. :)) (Maybe you have p666 error instead.)

Yes, send the file to NIL. The result is unknown, I sended my dump two weeks ago with no response from NIL yet. but give this a try at least.

Hi

Thanks for the instructions. Clear and to the point.

I have a Sony machine with a MATSHITA UJDA 755 DVD/CDRW.
I attempted to patch having created the bootable CD as described earlier in this thread with the following result:

Error P01
Could not patch firmware!
All Done!

Any progress on being able to patch these 75x drives? How can I help?

Z

Just like to say;

i have owned a Sony Viao for over 3 years and i have been following the various threads to try and unlock my UJDA 710 v 1.5 for nearly as long.
I am pleased to confirm that DVD info now confirms that my drive is ..............RPC1 hooray

Well done to all of you of have contributed to helping us UJDA owners.

I now have to find out why I have lost the sound from the DVD's.
This does not occur on CDr or CD-RW.

Any clues people?

Thanks again

This is a software problem of some kind. To verify this, try using VideoLAN for playback and the audio should work fine.

While trying to patch an UJDA 710 v1.04 on a Sony FX190 running W2K, I get the following error:

Maybe it's irrelevant, but has "bcd.iso" to be in this path? "C:
\Temp\" to work?!?

Hello all,

I just tried 4 times of updating my UJDA 730 drive on Toshiba Satellite
5105 series. So... I wasted my 4 CDs.
Why is my CD after I run bcd mpatch?

1. I extracted BCD package at c:\BCD
2. I extracted BFD package at c:\BCD

They have the directory name bin the same.
So I just merge them to have all the files in one folder.

3. I put nero aspi file in bin directory

4. I extracted mpatch.zip into c:\bcd direcctory
In the zip file, there was only 1 folder named CDs
I put it into c:\bcd direcctory.

5. I opened a command window and changed working directory to
c:\bcd

6. Then I typeed bcd mpatch
It checked all required files and started making ISO file.

7. It asked for a black CD into UDJA 730 and I inserted one.

8. It started wiriting about 2 MB files on the blank CD
Before the batch delete the ISO file, I made a copy.

9. After the program showed successful finish, the CD was popped out.
I slided that in and check on my computer.
The CD was Blank!
So I check the bcd.iso file with image drive but it also was blank.

10.Just in case... waiting for miracle... I rebooted my system with the CD.
After I chose CD-ROM for boot option, it tried to read the CD for seconds
but failed and booted itself with hard drive.

And I repeated that.... 4 times... oh my CDs...

Can you tell what is wrong with my procedure?
(I'm using Windows XP Professtional.)

After my several trial, the CD-ROM went little bad and it just became really choosy for burn CDs.
Now, it never reads CDs that I bunt with my desktop.

The situation is.... so bad... I still have RPC-2 with CD-choosy CD-rom.

Help.... Please....

P.S. Or if you can kindly provide how to do it with mpatch_win32 step-by-step,
I will be so happy.... that I can buy you a bottle of beer....!!!

I've tried to patch my Matshita 740 several times and haven't been successful. I used Disc Info 1.5.5

Firmware Version: 1.24
Drive Region Status: Lock Detected
Region Setting St: Set
User Changes left: 4
Manufacture resets left: 4
Current Region Set: 1
Read Speed: 24x

When I patched my Pioneer A05, it was so much easier. Will this patch remove the read limit lock (2x) when I use DVDdecrypter and other similar programs?

On another note, is it possible to copy a CD/DVD with multiple rings in it? There is a huge gap between data tracks on a disc that I am trying to back up. I haven't used CD or DVDClone yet, but I'm thinking that it will take a little more than just those programs. dvddecrypter iso mode won't work either for those of you who think I haven't researched the basics before asking.

Hi there,

New to this so apologies if I've missed something obvious. I followed the instructions in post from Nils from May last year. Process worked perfectly.

Upon rebooting I checked WinDVD 4, all the regions were greyed out & it said 5 changes remaining. Took this to be a good sign. Put in DVD (LOTR in this case) & it seems it can't read the disk. Doesn't give any error messages, but does not play nor can you browse disk.

Sys is Toshi TE2100 w/ Matshita UJDA720 running XPP. Please, can someone help with this..??

Jeff

Some day ago i've made a mistake to load original sony 1.04 firmware to my UJDA745, it, as it was promised, started reading cds a bit faster, but it also cannot read any DVD anymore

when flashing with patched firmware drvloadc said that about 16 bytes are different (i.e. failed to patch them)

then i tried to flash it with 1.02 firmware from flashman, but when verifying flash got same error.

now i have an unlocked drive still unable to read dvd's

Start->Run
CMD (if you have XP)
COMMAND (if you have 9x)

Then CD to the folder. If it's on D drive. Then type:

D:
CD \
CD BCD

If BCD folder is on root.

It's basic DOS commands.

Anyone knows how to contact >NIL? I would like a stab at the 75x and 76x drives, and can use the mpatch source code.

nope. Because I never really planned to (as I am steadily retiring from the patching business). As a matter of fact, I will not do any additional work on the UJDA side ever.
Quote:
Or is there any source code you could provide for mpatch
That's pretty much my plan. Note that the mpatch code contains encryption routines that Matshita might probably not appreciate to see out on the open (although their encryption is not very elaborate), and for this reason, this code will have to be kept very private (I mean it!!!). Preferably, the code should only go to dedicated and experienced people who know what they are about to undertake and are REALLY keen on helping the whole community.
And, don't expect much help from me after I gave you the sourcecode either. Patching is a lonely and time consuming business. Self-reliance is, IMO, the foremost quality a patcher need to have. If you don't fit this, better look away.

Quote:
so perhaps I could figure out what you are doing so I could patch the 755 firmware myself?
That would be great, as long as you realise that you need to have good reverse engineering and disassembly skills to get there, and that if you chose that path, you need to be motivated by something else than the simple desire to patch your own drive...

If you drop me a mail, I'll try to answer it (though I don't know when).

Cheers >NIL and everyone else this is a wee gem. Just a quick note to say THIS SITE INFO IS STILL VALID I revived my zone 1 ujda 720 with one burn. The site with "Bart's way to create..." has changed so I followed the instructions given in this forum post #58 by John Coxon (who had completed the process without realising it at the time) still using the same files from the Bart site, avoided the other download sites that are listed in this forum as corrupted (UK!), and once I had carefully extracted all the files to the appropriate folders - it worked like a dream. I then just had to reread all the posts and found NIL's 'you must read this' article about the other things necessary to fool the software into accepting multizone DVDs (DVD Region Killer works great), and everything's hunky dory.
Thanks again guys.

Hello!
I have a Toshiba V8/513LMEW which I bought in Japan with a Matsushita UJDA740 DVD/CDRW drive. Can I use this firmware patch for it? I really want to watch my American DVDs.
Thank you very much!

i must be stupid, confirmations unnecessary.

i've formatted my disk according to the seemingly smooth instructions a couple times now. extract the autopatcher, then mpatch- no troubles. then when i reboot i get this message and then nothing:

Loading Free DOS...
ROOT FAT KERNEL GO!

basically i have to reboot to get out of this. can't extract or flash without any further prompting???

Sony VAIO, UJDA 745
windows xp with all current updates

cheers,
matt

I get the same message as drjby4;

"Loading Free DOS...
ROOT FAT KERNEL GO!"

I've got an IBM T40 with a Matshita (Panasonic) UJDA745

Any help would be great! :)

I managed to sort the issue out. The problem seems to be with the Clean Boot CD package 2.0 on the Bart site. (a combined version of the BCD/BFD program)

I followed the steps below that John Coxon made in a previous post in this thread (page 3). I've added links to the files I used;

I downloaded bcd full package v1.1.1 ( found here. ) , bfd full package v1.0.7 ( found here. ) , and wnaspi32.dll ( found here. ). I extracted bcd to C:\bcd, then copied wnaspi32.dll to C:\bcd\bin. I then extracted bfd 1.0.7 to C:\bcd, letting it overwrite all files of the same name which were already there.

Then I downloaded mpatch.zip and extracted it to C:\bcd, ran a command prompt and browsed to the c:\bcd directory and ran "bcd mpatch". This creates an .ISO in your *profile*/local settings/temp directory (for win xp anyway.) I then just burnt this ISO and it worked.

I followed these steps EXACTLY and didn't have any problems.

Hope this helps.

Is there some place to get the ISO to do this patching.
The instructions say:
>Follow steps 1. & 2. from http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#clean by downloading and extracting the required files
Well step 2 is add your own files required to upgrade bios...
What files do I need to add here?
Also the current firmware from IBM is 1.5. Does it work for that?
