Hope someone can help me out. [-o< I have an Acer Aspire desktop (Athlon XP 2000 +), with a CD-ROM/DVD combo and WINDVD4.
I also have a number of DVD discs which are Regions 2 AND 4, and my PC will not play them (it refuses to acknowledge that there is a disc in the DVD drive when I insert one).
I've now tried various programs, but none of them work as the computer continues to claim that there is no disc in the drive.
Someone recommended that I look for a special firmware patch on this site, as an upgrade could solve my problem. However, the drivers are from Microsoft Windows Publisher, version 5.1.2535.0, and I cannot find anything pertaining to Microsoft drivers on this site.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who can offer me information regarding the drivers or, alternatively, another solution to my problem. Thanks... :|

would help if you post what drive you have, discinfo output would be good, and also an appropriate thread title

The drive itself is probably failing. Drivers will not help.

Optical drives in laptops die fast.
