The Firmware Page

Guys,

I am a newbie. Really do not know the difference between a DRIVER and a FIRMWARE Patch or Upgrade. I have Toshiba 2400 Satellite with a Matsushita UJDA720 Combo Drive (DVD/CD-RW).

After working for 3 months, I think the drivers have been corrupted and now the drive sees each inserted CD as a blank disk. It does not show any directory or contents on the disk.

Also when I try to write using Drag N' Drop Software, it says "Media is not compatible with the hardware".

Can you tell me
a) do i need to update the firmware?
or b) do I need to update the drivers?
if (b) , where can I find the drivers ?

I am really desperate for help ?
