HI all, sorry I am new to this forum, anyway i have extracted the inf using the flash utility for LiteON and also extracted the EPROM:
Slimtype BD E DS4E1S EP52http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G6U09G7V
i would like to update the firmware but i see there are many OEM versions of this BD reader.
Since I still need to use Anydvd in order to see bluray movies, I guess my drive is locked.
How can I know the correct version to flash in order to solve this issue?
Thank you in advance for your help
If you want to update your firmware use the EP56 I posted a while back, since that one matches your OEM drive. Flash it using the Flash Utility.
That's still an original RPC2 firmware, not patched in any way, so it will not unlock your drive ... you'll still need to use AnyDVD I'm afraid... like always make sure you backup/dump your current firmware using the Flash Utility (Read Flash button) before flashing the new firmware (just in case that for whatever reason you might want to go back to EP52 sometime in the future). WARNING:
For safety reasons it is always recommended to create a backup of the drive's EEPROM as well - just as you did - and to keep that safe. However, just in case someone might be tempted to flash the EEPROM dump you posted to their own drive: DON'T
The EEPROM of each LiteON drive contains unique factory calibration data for that drive, so one should never flash the EEPROM of another drive to their own
If one does so, the performance of their drive is likely to suffer as a result. Updating the firmware of the drive is all one needs ... never update the EEPROM of a working drive (yes the 'firmware' and the 'EEPROM' of a LiteON drive are two different 'things')!
