I have a few years of firmware (not for CD/DVDs, though) and EEPROM/flash programming software development experience and I'm looking for new interesting challenges. Recovering misflashed/empty flash chips is one of my specialties, especially if you need a cheap way to reflash something externally if the device doesn't react anymore.

Is there a demand for recovering bricked drives in DIY style? Which flash chips (model numbers please) are used in modern drives?

Before anyone asks, I do NOT offer any commercial services. This is a hobby for me, and I won't do anything for money because that would spoil the fun.
