i have successfully flashed rpc1 103c firmware onto my drive that had the original 103c firmware on it, it now says that it is region free and tries to play a region 2 disc of the british tv series: green wing. but it fails to play the dvds, even using vlc media player, it also fails to copy using dvd decryptor, the 3 green wing discs are in good condition so its not the discs, i also uninstalled the driver for this drive then restarted my computer and it still wont play the discs, it plays region 4 dvds fine still (i am in newzealand). i suspect that it might have something to do with me installing dvdpasskey on my computer (before i flashed my drive i tried dvd passkey then uninstalled it) because that made the region 2 dvd stuff up. i think before i installed passkey it only didnt work because it was region 2 but after i installed pass key it tried to play it but failed, even after uninstalling it i still had problems so i went to the microsoft website and used this application:http://support.microsoft.com/fixit which appeared to fix the problem, also binflash would not work util i restarted my laptop(inspiron 1501) in safe mode.
operating system: windows xp home service pack 3 still downloading some automatic updates from time to time. avg free addition(anti virus)
pc specs: amd mobile sempron, 1.8ghz 2gb ram 80gb hdd partitioned to C:48.8gb and G:22.6gb ati radeon xpress 1150 256mb NOT dedicated.
