Please Read the entire Thread at least once
As it is sometimes difficult for people willing to help to get all the informations needed, here are a few guidelines that you can use when creating a new thread.
1/ Make sure that you have done some search before posting. There's a nice search feature with this forum. The top threads contain some interesting information, and I even have a draft of a flashing HOWTO on my page...
2/ Makes sure that you give the manufacturer and model ID of your drive IN THE SUBJECT LINE.
This will greatly ease up the process of getting the attention of the people more apt to answer you.
It is also strongly recommanded that you use DISCInfo to get this information. The Show Summary report is very useful to get information for posting. As a rule of thumb, if you haven't used DISCInfo yet, you should really have a look at it before doing anything else.
3/ Make sure that you list the following when it applies:
o The configuration of your hardware (IDE, SCSI, master, slave, ID on the bus, etc...)
o The firmware revision you were using before attempting to flash
o The firmware revision that you are trying to flash
o Where you downloaded this firmware
o The utility (EXE) you used to flash
o The mode you were in for the upgrade:
- DOS mode using a DOS (Me, 9x) bootdisk,
- DOS window under Windows (this is bad!!!)
- Windows mode using a windows upgrade application
o The options you used
o A detailed report of the error. Copying the exact output you get is greatly appreciated.
o What DISCInfo reports after the flash regarding:
- the firmware revision
- the region settings
