I'm trying to disable the riplock on my samsung se-s084c.

I do not need to disable the region code necessarily. I only want to rip dvd's in a more speedy manner.

I got the TS01 firmware but when I open it in "Media Code Speed Edit" everything is grayed out. Even though the drive is on the supported list.

Are there pre-edited versions of the firmware available by any chance?

It is a:
TSSTcorp
CDDVDW se-s084c
TS01
RPC-2

Attached is a screenshot of what I get.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For MCSE there is no firmware listed, so obviously TS00, the initial firmware, is supported only yet.

Question is also, what do you expect from such a slimtype drive in case of ripspeed?
I would say you cannot expect anything good....

So, what is the ripspeed with pressed DVD5, DVD9 and their burned equivalents?

We wont host nor offer such, because any user can do that him-/herself.

Thanks for the reply,

So should I downgrade to the TS00? At the present time a rip takes anywhere from 20-45 minutes. (dual layers or not). It really varies. In rare occasions it can take up to 40 minutes for an 80 minute film.

I always thought it was related to the different types of encryption out there. My work involves extracting dvd's for film historical purposes. So I'm very interested in all this. But I might just get an internal Plextor. I read they have the option build in by pressing the eject button for a couple of seconds.

Thanks!

Encryption is another part that plays into this, but first the media type and content counts in.

I don't know why ala did not mention a specific firmware within the MCSE log, you may could ask him about that?!
