The Firmware Page

Hi there

just bought my new iMac with OSX 10.7.3 and am already looking for a RPC-1 firmware patch on the drive.

It looks like this is too new to already have that handy somewhere so if anyone is keen to have a go, I can Beta test the patch

specs are
LG HL-DT-ST DVDRW GA32N with revision KE06
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 1024 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO

Please let me know if anyone has done any work on this yet

There are still no firmware releases available for this drive, but it should be possible now to create a raw firmware dump using DevilsClaw's Renesas Flasher (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46137) by running it with this special command line:

flasher -d <drive id> -l firmware.bin 1 80000000 00200000

where <drive id> should be replaced by your actual Drive ID number.

Once a firmware dump is available, that would open the door for a RPC patch.

I have not been able to dump the firmware. How do I find the drive identification string?
