Gosh! It makes no sense to open up new threads for every identical request!

You posted one post here in this thread without any info or link to your request (thread), that was not correct.

Do you now understand??

Hey,

I have the same drive as that one:

Quote:
HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS31N:
Firmware Revision: TA17
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: To show the available burn speeds, insert a disc and choose View > Refresh

And I would like to know if I could get acces to any region free firmware. I would also like to know how to undo the flashing or how to reflash with the original firmware in case I ever need to use my apple care.

There is no undo for flashing, only reflashing is a possible way.

Search in our database for firmwares.

I'm also looking for the patched firmware for:

Vendor: HL-DT-ST
Model : DVDRW GS31N
Firmware: TA17
Status: RPC-2 (region locked)

After reading previous posts it seems a patch was sent to members by PM but has yet to be posted in the data base. If anyone can help get the patched firmware to me it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Also, mods, after reading through these posts, it seems that if I do get a PM, I will not be able to read it since I just joined the board. Can my PM function be activated?

Best!

guys you will have to be patient for the next release of MCSE to patch this firmware, if ala42 does not PM. If he does and your pm is not active, then you can post asking. If your details have already been posted then you don't need to keep reposting.

As per the OP I too am looking for RPC1 firmware for the GS31N in my Early 2011 MacBook Pro.

I'll try to stick to the rules as much as possible, though DVD Info X won't run on my machine - I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion.

As per System Information:

Quote:
HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS31N:

Firmware Revision: TA17
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO

Links to the original firmware dumped with flasher, as requested:
