Hi,

I have just replaced the superdrive in my iMac with this.

The drive works, but when you push the disk in, the drive doesn't suck the disk in. When pushed all the way in, it works fine.

The drive is a pull from an Acer machine.

Does anyone have Apple Firmware for this drive? I have seen one http://www.sendspace.com/file/snwjn9 but it doesn't work. Grr.

Any ideas anyone?

Mark,

Read the MAtshita FAQ first, please.

Sorry - I'm new to this :)

Here is what I have determined I need to get for help.
Quote:
1) Check and ensure your request has not already been asked for
2) Post information about your drive, model, firmware revision, mac model/OS
3) What you require, original firmware, RPC1 patched etc.
4) Please provide a dump from your drive, Email or upload it somewhere.

1. It has, but the download links have all expired.
2. Drive (Posted above), but Matishita 85JS. Firmware revision is F100. The Mac is an iMac (Mid 2007). It originally had a Pioneer superdrive, but I replaced it with this because the drive was damaged. I replaced it with the Matishita, which works fully, but it does not suck the disk in, unless pushed in fully. I think this is because the drive is a pull from a PC and hasn't been flashed with the Apple firmware. The Mac it is installed it is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
3. I would like the original Apple firmware. Preferably a dump of the drive's original firmware from when installed in Mac.
4. I don't have a dump, as I do not have the Apple firmware. However, I can provide a dump of the current firmware if needed.

You wrote that it has an acer firmware, must be the only reason why it does show this mis-behaviour (slot in mechanic).

Lets see if someone has the firmware you seek.

Probably someone flashed the drive with the UJ85S firmware from this thread viewtopic.php?f=30&t=46116 ...first post.

Exactly what I thought. I really hoped someone did have a copy, as they are out there, just expired.

Thanks for your help.

Hi!

Right, I've been sent a .DAT file dump of a PowerMac G4 Cube who has a 85SJ! Woo!

I have got the .DAT file, and have also got Matshita Flasher.

I have dragged the .DAT file ontop of the Matshita Flasher icon on the Dock.

Terminal is opened, and I get this:

Quote:
Last login: Sat Dec 17 00:47:14 on console
/Users/marksweeney/Downloads/MatshitaFlasher\ 0.6.app/Contents/Resources/call_simple_flash ; exit;
Mums-iMac:~ marksweeney$ /Users/marksweeney/Downloads/MatshitaFlasher\ 0.6.app/Contents/Resources/call_simple_flash ; exit;

calling simple_flash with firmware file /Users/marksweeney/Desktop/MATSHITADVD-RAM_UJ-85JS_FWR7_dump_0.dat

compiled at Apr 14 2011 22:33:18
Selected device: MATSHITADVD-RAM UJ-85JS FWR
Continue?

Then, I press 'y'.

Quote:
sp_write returned -2122317824

logout

[Process completed]

What does this mean? Where is the issue in the Flashing process?

Thanks,

Mark
