hi there,

a patched firmware to get this little fella region free would be awesome... sadly i can't provide any discinfo outputs, because non of the versions i found could be started under win7 ultimate x64 :-(

the current firmware can be found here:

1. right click the discinfo exe.
2. properties
3. go to tab at the top called Compatibility
4. Check Run this program in compatibility mode
5. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
6. Click ok
7. run discinfo and provide info here

Well, I'm running Windows 7 64bit on my desktop and Windows 7 32bit on my laptop and it has worked on both and I have had other people do the same recently, So either you don't have perms to run it which would mean you would not have perms to flash your drive, your drive is not detected by your os, or your doing it wrong.

Maybe also the controller used for the drive is the culprint. Check that too and please provide the necessary info here.

I think you should calm down.

You still failed to prove that there is even a riplock...

What constitutes proof of a riplock? I'm seeing ~6x for BD and ~4x for DVD when ripping from this drive, as opposed to the advertised 12x and 16x.

Would be great to get an unlock for this drive. Here's my DiscInfo:

DVD-R is not DVD-R and BD-R is not BD-R.

What counts:
BD or DVD type (eg. DVD-R 1sided one layer),
Pressed or burned.
Amount of data on the disc.
Write mode is has written with.
Quality of the disc overall.

I could've just copy and pasted from above (changing the region code, which is, obviously, the only difference), but being the nice and responsible person that I am, I'd went to a whole lot of trouble of opening up my mediaplayer, unscrewing the drive, opening up my computer case, attaching the drive, switching drive access from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS, then finally running discinfo, only to get a result I'd already got once (but didn't keep, as it was a verbatim copy of the one I'd referenced). Anyway, here goes:

DISCINFO VERSION : 1.7.0 BETA.12
VENDOR : TSSTcorp
MODEL : DVDWBD SH-B123L
REVISION : SB04
LOADING MECHANISM : Tray
SERIAL NUMBER :
NUMBER VOL. LEVELS : 256

Hope this will help somehow. I'm off to reverse all the changes I just did.

No problem, "informations" has been fixed to information, because informations does not exist in english.
I also removed the info output for the virtual drive...
