Hello,

My DVD Drive is dead and I can't even open it.

My drive model is HL DT ST DVDRAM GU10N. I would be greatful if somebody can help me by providing firmware for it.

I have read the rules and understand that I need to give all the information but, all the information I have now is the model number as the drive was wrongly flashed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

You have not even told us what you did to flash this drive wrong.

Our request rules are there for a good reason.

Apologies for the delay in replying.

I tried to flash it using LG Renesas utility.

Actually, I set the region lock to 2 accidentally and wanted to remove the region lock. So I tried to flash it using LG Renesas utility with out even doing a basic research on what it was.
When it flashed, the drive was locked and wasn't even opening. When I saw the properties it was showing some completely different name for the drive. I restarted couple of times but had the same result. I got panic and posted in the forums for the firmware.
I didn't use the laptop for couple of days and when I opened it today I found that it reads the DVDs and I can see the original details.

If would be very thankful if I can get the drive unlocked to pay all region DVDs.

I am using Lenovo Thinkpad T410. I don't know the manufacturer of the drive as it not shown anywhere else.

There is no patch for your drive to make it region free. There is the RPC2 Reset which allows you to change the region to what you want up to the number available with each reboot, which means for you, you have 4 changes per reboot/power cycle.

I suggest you set a region once, then apply the rpc2 auto-reset patch.
