I am requesting assistance in getting an RPC1 region-free firmware for the TSSTCorp DVD+-RW TS-U633A that is in my Dell Latitude E4300 notebook.

In searching this site and others, I have been unable to find anything for this drive.

The latest firmware (DW10, A03) is available on the Dell website:

Well, that was before I updated my firmware to the latest Dell firmware.

The new output from DiscInfo is now included in my original post. The firmwares match now.

Sorry.

I successfully updated the firmware on the drive with the use of the patched firmware provided by ala42 (I used the TSDWin utility contained with the Dell firmware update linked to in the first post).
Post-patch I was able to play DVDs with two different region codes using VLC player. Using DVD Region Killer, I was able to use Windows Media Player and the preinstallted Cyberlink PowerDVD software to play DVDs with two different region codes.

Thanks for the assistance! I hope the firmware patch will be of use to other users with this drive.

A TS-U633F is most probable not the same as a TS-U633A, so do not try the TS-U633F firmware. You can apply the RPC1 patch to the firmware .bin file with my MCSE tool.

I need this firmware regionless as well please. I'm surprised you just send it to the requester and don't post it on a download page or something.

Well, I've just joined here, and I'm really [*oops*] right now since I've found out that my laptop's dvd player isn't regionless... so I'm not thinking straight. I don't know what MCSE is. Can you give me a link to a tutorial or something?

Ok I used MCSE to apply the RPC1 patch to my .bin file, then upgraded the drive. I rebooted, and windows media player complained about some incompatibility between my dvd drive, codec, and video card. I looked up my drive stats, and it said that it was regionless and such, so I figured this was now a software on the computer problem.

I looked at your suggested downloads and found DVD Region Killer... downloaded, installed, and enabled it... the dvd now works.

Thanks for posting these links. I'm sure you get enough posts to not want to worry about each individual's problems, so I've just posted the process to my solution. I hope it helps someone else.

Here's the utility page for anyone like me who had such a hard time finding it:

Ala, all,

I am keen on trying MCSE on my TS-U633F to patch it to RPC1. From the previous posts, I seem to understand that it would work but I am not too sure as this model does not appear to be in the list of supported models. I have tried loading the latest firmware exe from DELL in MCSE but nothing comes up in the interface. Is it just that the U633 is not supported or do I have to extract the .bin from the exe? If so, I am not sure how to do that. Could you please advise on the best way to get this dvd burner region free?

In the meantime, i'll try AnyDVD.

Thanks,

Seb

Just start the .exe file, it is self extracting. Load the .bin with MCSE.

Hi again,

Sorry. I was being a numpty. I noticed the self-extracting afterwards. MCSE worked like a dream.Tick RPC1 patch, save the edited bin. Upgrade with the new edited firmware and everything's seems to be fine. VLc is working with any region.

Thanks a lot Ala. Great piece of kit!
