well, some cd's/dvd's burnt with this recorder are slow to read in other drives. As the info about update 1.11 states it would increase write performance, I thought it would be good to try. Hm, I probably should test it first with the rpc-2 firmware and report back if it helps ... (yes, I should have had that idea before ... ). I'll report back if it helps.

@ mazumoto,
There is no difference in the Media write strategies between RPC-2 and RPC-1 Firmwares so changing from RPC-2 to RPC-1 Firmware or visa versa isn’t going to correct your “slow to read” problem.
From your brief “slow to read” description of your problem it should be noted the usual cause of this problem is the use of poor quality problematic blank Media.
Regards, Coaster

Well, finally I had time to test 1.11 a bit, and it really doesn't seem to improve write/read performance. So I'll go back to 1.10 rpc1 @Coaster: I mostly use brand-media (TDK, etc). But well, that probably doesn't mean too much. Thanks for all comments mazumoto

@ mazumoto, Suggest re-reading my Sun Jan 18, 2009 11:44 PM posting and note my comments concerning “slow to read” and the use of poor quality problematic blank Media. mazumoto wrote: .....I mostly use brand-media (TDK, etc)..... TDK Media easily qualifies as poor quality problematic blank Media. Suggest using known proven quality error free Media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim Media which has a proven track history of consistently producing quality error free results. Also perhaps you should consider using Nero CD DVD Speed ( http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroCDSpeed_47716.zip) and perform ScanDisc surface scan and/or Disc Quality Scan of your TDK DVD Burned Media. The “slow to read” problem is most likely an indicator that these particular TDK Media were poor quality Burns. Regards, Coaster
