@ x3m_boss,

Welcome to the Forum.

What leads you to believe that Hitachi LG Data Storage (HL-DT-ST) has release a firmware newer than the version JT03 Firmware that you currently have installed in your DVDRAM GSA-T40N DVD Burner?

Regards,
Coaster

Ok...maybe is the ultimate firmware, but the drive is ... "under the world" with versio JT3
It is reading CD only when she want, never write a CD at any speed!
I cleaned up...nothing changed.
Not in XP-SP3, not in VISTA-SP1, not in UNBUNTU.
Interesant is that...with DVD is work OK.
I have a friend, whit the same drive, but another firmware (i dont now the version..sorry)
and it's working perfectly!
I don't need a newer firmware expressly...what i want is another firmware.
PS: my drive is almost new! Have only 2 weeks

@ x3m_boss,

Have you attempted to use known proven reliable high quality error free CD Media such as Taiyo Yuden and/or Verbatim CD Media which consistently provides quality error free results?

Perchance have you actually checked the Hitachi LG Data Storage support Web Site to see if they have released a newer Firmware for your HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T40N Drive?

Regards,
Coaster

I have checked the LG Data Storage for new firmware, i even sent a few mails to LG, HITACHI and TOSHIBA (my notebook is Toshiba)
and the ansers is really emberasing:
LG: "LG does not have a firmware for your device. Try contact your notebook manufacturer. (...)"
HITACHI: "We do not have a firmware for optical drive that you mentioned. Try in other place. (...)"
TOSHIBA: "A firmware for your device(...) cannot be find at Toshiba. (...)

PS: I just try a Verbatim CD Media is not reconized #-o

To change the optical drive, I have to return the notebook!
And I cant return the notebook right now because i have a lot of work on it.
And the procedure,in Romania, take about 3 weeks!

@ x3m_boss,

Suggest finding a friend that has an External DVD Burner and transfer all your “a lot of work on it” data to DVD Media and then return your “2 Week Old” Toshiba NoteBook Computer for warranty repairs.

Another alterative is NetWork your Toshiba NoteBook Computer through either USB or FireWire to another computer and transfer all your “a lot of work on it” data to another computer and then return your “2 Week Old” Toshiba NoteBook Computer for warranty repairs.

Regards,
Coaster

i would be difficult with them, and ask for a new notebook, no repair, i mean 2 weeks, no way i would let them repair it after this short space of time

Ok.. i made 3 clone images at my partitions with Norton Ghost (8+7+59GB @ max compression), i have transfered to my old desktop.
(Just in case...)
Tomorrow i will send the notebook to service. I will ask to change my drive(not the notebook) and to put another drive on it, TS-L632H or Toshiba HD SD-L802B.
I never liked LG...but now I really hate LG! :x
