I bought some Intenso DVD media IHQ 16X (UME02) and the dye is very light.
I have the impression that the best dye should be dark purple. Is this correct ?

Nope.

And UME* is always crappo media, AFAIK.

Thanks for your reply. I just had to take what was availabe since I needed some media fast.
However so far I had no problems on all my 4 DVD players and computer drives. Fingers crossed !!

Which burner have you used with them?

Did you perform a quality scan on them (Nero cd dvd speed)??

I've used Nero 9.

They don't look all that bad, with 5 PI failures.

It looks so, but your burner is not a reliable scanner.

OK, So it's the burner now. I'll test the media on some more burners come Monday.
However playing the DVD on 4 DVD players + 4 computer drives (the oldest DVR 106D) without problems, I should think the performance is quite good for crappo media.

Yeah, question will be how fast the media deteroiates...

So I shall backup on some Taiyo Yuden as soon as I can. That should cover me.

Good burner or bad burner, Ume Disc is not very good stuff either way.
Indeed, switch to Verbatim/Mitsubishi or Taiyo Yuden.
