i need some help. my good friends mother died and the funeral parlor made a dvd of pictures of her from when she was a kid to present and showed them at the funeral. they gave my friend a copy and he wanted me to make him copies for his brothers and sisters. the funeral parlor wanted $30.00 per copy. i told him i would make them for him, no problem. well the dvd is copy protected, whick i thought would be no problem, but i can't make copies of it. i have any dvd and clonedvd2 which i never have a problem making copies from original movies. why can't i make a copy of my friends dvd. i can take copy protection off major movies from big name movie companies and i can't take copy protection off from some local funeral parlor. how can that be. what copy protection could they possibly have that major movie people don't have. the dvd will play on my tv, but it won't play on my computer. i have NEC (sony) burners. can anyone out there help me. thanking you in advance.

It could be just your drive causing the problem. since im sure they dont have the silver stamper disc that big movie studios have it would have to be the type of burner and media they used that is causing the problem. so i would try another drive. also it could be there using some sort of autorun on the disc that prevents it and you could disable the autorun by holding shift key while sticking in the disc or just disabling the autorun all together.

Try with another drive or ask the creator - it would be interesting what the funeral parlor says about the copy protection and WHY it was used anyway...

this is common practice, not just in that industry. You can get programs that can id them for you, such as clony
