Hi,

I was just wondering if its normal for a disc to take over 4 minutes to burn when burning audio at 24x. The discs im using are verbatim, the prog im using is nero 8 and my cd/dvd writer is a TS-L532M. I was under the impression it should be faster than that, thats all. Also my comp dont need defragmenting as i have done that already.

Thanx

C

depends upon the size of the audio cd, and if its really burning at 24x, have you checked show real recorder write speed during burn in nero options, this will give you the true speed, also make sure the drive is in UDMA mode in device manager

4 min or less, in the end only a good recording is counting...

Thanx,

its running UDMA mode 5, im using 700mb 80 min discs too. I was under the impression they would write quicker than 4 minutes at 24x, in my mind it would be pointless in giving you that option of speed if in fact it doesnt actually do so. When i had other brands of disc i only got the option of 8x writing speeds and they took just over 7min, so i just thought divide that by 3 and thats what i should expect in regards to writing time.

thanx for your help and i will just have to put up with it or get a better writer!

Also on a totally different subject, if i were to download and transfer a HD/Blueray movie to a hard drive of a mulimedia player will that player output the movie in its rated format of 720 or 1080, as long as the proper hd leads are connected to a hd tv. probs a stupid or obvious question but i thought i would ask

cheers

i wouldn't worry, 4mins is not that bad, for 24x, remember you don't suddenly get 24x straight away, builds up, you may start at around 12x, speed and build from there, why having the option in nero is a good thing, see the true speed.

as long as your settings are correct when ripping the movie to the hard disc, and you use a suitable HDMI, or HD cable from the payer to the dvd, you should get the HiDef picture

I doubt its running in UDMA5 mode...
Faster write speeds never mean that you can cut the times for that in relation to the speeds used.

About the BD movie...depends always on the player itself, surely you have to deal with HDCP depending on the output connection available...
