Lately I am having major problems when burning DVD's. I always used Nero and had no problems at all burning dvd's (movies and data) on my HP-DVD400C drive. Lately I got strange problems with it. Either it burns at very low speeds, even if I use 8x media. Burning seems to start at 8x but slows down terribly and most of the time is finished after more than 30min. Most of the time the dvd is not working then. Also, many times the burning just freezes completely or I get write-errors.
I thought my HP drive was trashed so I bought a new Samsung DL drive which strange enough had exactly the same problems. I already tried using different software but that doesn't help either. The strange thing is that writing cd-r media gives no problem at all.
I am rather confused now and have no clue how to solve it. Hope anyone of you can help me out?

@dhc014 : Well, I tried different media already but still have them problems.
@DJBrad : Errr.... sorry for my newbie reply but what's "pio mode"?
