Hey guys, I have a NEC DVD-RW ND-1300A as stated in the topic. I have owned for about a year now and every single dvd movie I burn from an image file will have at some point in the movie ( usually near the climax ) it will freeze or become very choppy.

When I first received the drive I had to flash the firmware just so I could get it to work at 4x in nero. I recently have gotten back into dvd burning but find myself with the same issues I had dealt with before; dvd movies not playing smoothly.

I recently upgraded from 1.09 to 1.0C hoping that would help. I then proceeded to burn a new movie (RE2) and then just now attempted to watch it. It froze at the climax.

I am sure media and speed are not an issue, because I have used a variety of media and have burned at 2x with similar results. However, I hear 'DLK' is best? I will buy those for my dvds from now on.

Do any of you genius experts know what I could do?

Thanks in advance. :D

Use better discs, especially with picky drives.

Please have a look at my post at this thread:
http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=31594&highlight=nec+1300

I guess more and more of posts like yours will come up, since NEC 1300 is getting older and maintenance is becoming a necessary task. That is why I suggested to the moderators to make the above post sticky.

Only Administrators are allowed to make posts sticky. Furthermore, we had more than enough stickies that made it all into a mess.

Anyone who has a problem should use the SEARCH function in the first place.

Hey guys, thanks alot for the replies. The search function is awesome, and taxaza I did find and read your posts, thanks.

I did about 20 minutes of research and ordered a new
LG GSA-4160B DVD+RW 16X4X16 DVD-RW 8X4X16 CDRW 40X24X40 INT IDE BLACK OEM W/ SW

for $105.08 CDN.

When I first received my NEC ND-1300A it could never burn a dvd image file smoothly. They are pieces of crap when it comes to this. My data discs seem to be fine.. but who knows how long they will last.

BTW - what is the best media for dvd movies?
