I have a Sony desktop with a Dw-U12A dvd writer (2.4x), even after downloading firmware 2.0e it will not write a DVD +RW (4x).
A screen message says" Incompatible Media".
Software used is Click To DVd and Drag n Drop.
Any advice welcome. |

| ... make sure i wasnt mistaken. it identified my dvd drive as a dw-u12a, and when i update my firmware i have always used firmware ... the drive. i am not sure how this is possible b/c the sony installer for the u10a and u12a dont allow you to interchange. ... |

Hopefully no one will read this post and mess up their drive like you did 
Fortunately, the DW-U12A cannot be flashed using the tools which you claim to have used. |

| What the hell are you doing? The codeguys' page does not apply to the DW-U12A! None of the flash tools there should be able to flash your drive, nor ... on that page. You probably misflashed your drive and put it into SONY BOOT mode... Post the Show Summary information for the drive from DISCInfo |

I have tried this/these hacked firm,ware's and no change to my burning, its always 2x. My drive started out as a dw u-12a, anybody have a firmare to flash my drive back to dw-u12a. I wont to try to send it back.

HI ,
I flashed my u12a drive to a 500a.
I am getting error messages everytime I try to burn a home movie longer
than 5 minutes long.
It worked fine before.
Is there a way to flash back to the u12a drive??
