| And so the time has come. This is my last post ever in this forum! I've had a great 3&½ years around here, during which I've seen this site grow rom a simple webpage where our enlightened founding father ( Arzeno ) patiently gathered a large & miscellaneous collection of firmwares on his ISP's webpa... |

| Hopefully you will change your mind and help out the scene. I wouldn't count on that. I really have no plan to ever come back to this. But other people should be able to take over the DVR patching business. No one is irreplaceable you know, and you might get a better patcher for Pioneer drives as a... |

| I noticed that the latest version of DVDInfoPro no longer gives the list of speeds the media can be written at, but rather the available speed descriptors on the media, which usually stops at 4x. This actually got me startled after I patched the 108, coz I thought I had [*Profanity*] something up so... |

| Looks good to me. Thanks for the scan. PS: I never experienced the DMA->PIO issue after flash on any of my machines either, eventhough I probably flashed my drives more than usual. But this is a such a recurring question in this forum that I would advise anybody who flashes their DVR drives to ch... |

You say that you are going to re-flash the 1.18 kernel ("may try both NIL 118 FW and kernel again, later in the week...."), while you already have the 1.14 kernel and the 1.18 normal part flas... |

The trick I gave for the NS585P should work on the NS355.
Most of the stuff you'll see out there will require you to buy some expensive stuff (universal remote, etc..), while you can use a simple and inexpensive montage plugged onto a PC's serial port to do the same.
Have a look here |

| Then it's just that the 4x strategy override doesn't suit your media. Of course, there is no way that I can guarantee that a specific override strategy (in this case, I think it's the Pioneer default 4x strategy, but still it's an override) will be compatible with your media. To be fair, it's not a ... |

That's because you're using Pioneer's flashing application. Use DVRFlash and roll. |

Look for a file called boot.ini in your C: (or D:) drive.
Google for more information about boot.ini, become knowledgeable on how to modify it (you WILL find all the information you need out there) and modify it accordingly. |

Ask Bill Gates. It's his fault if Windows does such a bad work at detecting hardware... Definitely NOT a firmware issue.
But if your drive work, why should you care about what Windows says (hey, why should you care about anything Windows says anyway)? |

| Using lower speeds than the medium rated speed is a bad idea. Pioneer removed them for a reason, and I decided that, for once, I would trust Pioneer to have added a limit in the interest of users. If your media is 4x, don't burn it at anything less than 4x (and stop believing that crap about games D... |

| If you are using a SoudBlaster card, there's a change that you can use the kX Project driver (google for it) which offers far greater control over your hardware than the Creative crap. Using this driver you can definitely control each speaker independantly. |

| If it's 4.5x max, it probably comes from your media. Try to rip a clean, single layer, commercial DVD (i.e. not burned) that holds more than 4 GB of data , and not the end ripping speed there. Then we'll talk. OR, you can do a search in this forum to find the answer for this recurring question. Boy,... |

You can open a thread in the R/RW/RAM section if there is any issue you want to report (by issue I mean "something that worked with the original 1.18 and that doesn't with the patched 1.18", and only this) The strategy overrides are as follows: - none for 1x (... |

Stewart posted a couple of links to DVR-109 firmwares in one of the DVR-109 threads. If you look hard enough, you'll find 'em.
But I would be surprised if Flash doesn't already have a duplicate on his site. |

The complete release is available from my site (follow the sig) Anyway, it shouldn't matter. What version of Windows are you using? Did you try uninstalling the VIA drivers? |
